The company has headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, and they are one of the reasons Detroit is commonly called the Motor City. But the American recession has hit the respected car maker harder than most, as sales of their cars and minivans tumbled by thirty per cent in 2008. The start of the New Year was even less encouraging as Chrysler sales slipped even further, down by nearly forty per cent. Finally, in April, 2009, the company reported that they were filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. They also announced that they were forming a partnership with Italian auto giant, Fiat.

So, if you have ever thought about owning a Chrysler, now might be the perfect time to buy. (more...)
